The highly emblematic 1931 Collection from Louis Erard, the fruit of an ongoing quest for symbiosis between form and function, now includes a tonneau version. Exploring new Art Deco-inspired shapes, the Le Noirmont watchmaker has produced a subtle harmony of line and volume. Harking back to the earliest creations launched under the leadership of Alain Spinedi in 2003, the 4N pink gold plate of the indexes and hands makes an elegant contrast with the steel of the case. Reinvented in this way, retro becomes trendy.
In its Moon Phase version, the 1931 Classic Tonneau vibrates to the rhythm of an ETA movement with a Dubois Dépraz 9000 complication. This mechanism is housed in a case whose delicate curves skilfully interrupt the circle of days at the centre, creating a truly graceful composition.
Travellers, however, will prefer the GMT Large Date. Stamped with a certain classicism in its silvered version, this model takes on a stronger character when dressed in black, with a subtle contrast of tones. The 4N pink gold of the indexes is repeated in the hands, providing a striking effect with the black of the dial delicately set in a steel case. Reinforced by a second time zone, it all adds up to a strong invitation to travel.
Whether it be a journey in time or in space, these new Louis Erard models are on their way to eternity.
