Seaworthy in all weathers: The new Edox Chronograph Grand Ocean Automatic
Based in the Swiss Jura, Edox is one of the world’s few remaining independent watchmakers and is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2009. As an homage to its first marine sport watches from the 1960’s, Edox presents a collection known as Grand Ocean consisting exclusively of mechanical watches with a maritime theme.
The new Grand Ocean Chronograph Automatic is captivating with its sporty, virile case in hand-polished stainless steel with three distinctive strap lugs. The watch that is assembled in intricate manual operations has a unique maritime presence that is emphasised by a virtually scratchproof domed sapphire crystal cover and it’s water resistance up to 10 ATM. The generous diameter of 48 mm makes it into an ideal, constantly present companion.
As in all timepieces in the new Grand Ocean Collection, this chronograph runs on a highly reliable movement, the automatic rewind calibre Edox no. 012 with a reserve of 42 hours. Also the design of the watch’s back shows a great deal of painstaking, detailed work. Exactly above the balance wheel there is a viewing port that reveals the beating heart of the mechanical watch. The new Edox Grand Ocean Chronograph – seaworthy in all waters.
